How do I add a domain to my hosting package?

To add a domain to your hosting package you must register or have already registered the domain you want to use.

If you have already registered the domain with a registrar other than smallGod you need to point the domain to smallGod. To do this change the nameservers (DNS servers) for the domain to the following. (Do this at your current registrar.)

ns1.smallgod.net
ns2.smallgod.net
ns3.smallgod.net

This will point your domain to smallGod. (It can take 24-48 hours for the nameserver change to propagate throughout the DNS system.)

If you register your domain through smallGod the domain will automatically have the correct nameservers. Register a domain name.

Once Domain is Registered

Once you have your domain name pointing to smallGod you need to add the domain to your hosting package via the control panel.
After logging in to the control panel do the following:
  1. Click on the Websites & Domains tab.
  2. Near the bottom of the page click Add New Domain.
  3. In the Domain field enter the domain name. (Do not include the http:// part or the www. part.)
  4. For DNS server configuration select: Use our DNS Settings.
  5. For Hosting Type select: Website Hosting
  6. In the Document root field enter the name of the directory your website files will be located. If you want this new domain to point to the same files as your primary domain enter httpdocs here.
  7. Click OK.
